Pinwheel provides the API that makes it easy for consumers to connect their payroll accounts to any app, unlocking a wealth of data and functionality for our customers. Developers integrate with our API through a single point of connectivity, and from there, they can leverage all the data and functionality enabled by our platform. The connectivity created by Pinwheel gives companies the tools to spark innovation of new financial products, delivering value to our customers and their end users.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’re making it even easier for you to integrate with Pinwheel with the release of our new API documentation. The docs are accompanied by an Implementation Guide, SDKs (Javascript, React Native, Android, and iOS), and a refreshed Link UI to make the experience even better for end users. Here are just a few examples of the use cases Pinwheel enables:

Direct Deposit Switching

Direct Deposit Switch lets your customers update their Direct Deposit settings directly in your user experience. In just a few clicks, a user can change where they receive part or all of their paycheck. For all banks--neo or traditional--having a consumers’ Direct Deposit can up LTV by 10x and a LOT of folks just can’t be bothered to switch these settings via HR or a disparate flow. Bringing this ability to edit direct deposit settings into the bank’s account opening process is a no-brainer, and our new docs make it easy for you to do just that.

Paycheck-Linked Lending

Direct deposit editing can also be used to enable innovation for lenders by setting up Paycheck Linked Loans. If a lender has already approved a borrower they can incentivize that borrower to repay the loan via their direct deposit. This makes paying the loan super easy for the consumer and decreases loss rates for you -- win, win!

Income & Employment Data

Our Income and Employment endpoints allow you to retrieve a consumer’s payroll data, simplifying so many tiresome workflows by programmatically answering questions like: “Who do they work for?” “How long have they worked there?” “How much do they make?” “How many hours have they worked?” (and the list goes on). Integrating with payroll means no longer asking consumers to upload PDFs or get documents from their HR person, transforming an antiquated, manual process into a seamless, digital one.

All of these use cases are accessible from a single point of connectivity via our API, making the integration process even easier and helping you deliver even more value to your end users.  It’s the next step on our path to unlocking payroll connectivity and accelerating the next wave of fintech, and we can’t wait to see what you build with it.
